Development and Initial Evaluation of the Athlete Eating Psychopathology Observation Questionnaire for Sport Professionals

Eating psychopathology symptoms are common in athletes; however, it is unknown which detected and to what extent by sport professionals. This study aimed develop evaluate a self-report questionnaire explore features of eating athletes professionals, how observation these might vary. Thirty-one questions were developed 232 professionals (56% male) participated the study. Exploratory Factor Analysis revealed 20-item, five-factor solution (Negative Affect, Dieting Practices, Fear Social Contexts, Bingeing Purging, Compulsive Exercise). Participants most frequently reported observing athletes’ dieting practices, while fear social contexts observed least frequently. has preliminarily tested Athlete Psychopathology Observation Questionnaire (AEPOQ), now requires further validation. The findings provide important directions for education initiatives with regarding identification symptoms.
